About
I collaborated with two fellow students on a design team to revamp the Longhorn app, prioritizing student needs and improving user-friendliness. Our journey through the design process served as a comprehensive learning experience, enabling us to grasp the intricacies of each phase
The Challenge
Design Features
We focused on making it incredibly intuitive and encapsulating all necessary information into one location. We placed a big emphasis on user feedback which led to a digital wallet, a simplified purchasing process, and a resell feature.
Persona Creation
In our team, as a part of our design process, we needed to begin with personas. As a team, we constructed 2 personas, and I was the one in charge of the one presented above. The main attributes that were essential to convey in the persona were the interest and passion for UT sporting juxtaposed with the difficulties in the user interface currently experiencing. I made sure to identify problem areas as well as the underlying needs and desires that would guide the entire project.
Stakeholder Mapping
We utilized the process of stakeholder mapping to identify and categorize key individuals or groups who have an interest in or can influence a project or organization. This additionally allowed for my team and I to obtain a thorough understanding of the interests, needs, and expectations of different stakeholders.
Interview Guide
Another role that I held in this team was creating the interview guide. I focused on using a semi-structured format for the interview as I felt that it was the best practice to obtain substantial and organic feedback. Additionally, the interview needed to contain both a verbal component along and a visual aspect where we could look at the way the user was interacting with the app. This observation aspect is beneficial as it reveals nonverbal cues of confusion, ease, and natural tendencies that users themselves may not be aware of. Attached below is a link to the interview guide we used throughout the 6 user interviews we conducted.

Mid-Fi Prototype
Collaborating as a team based on our user interview, 30+ design sketches, and affinity diagrams was a very insightful process as it highlighted the difficulties that can arise in the actual design process. Even though we were each working on different pages we wanted to ensure consistency among our designs. I was in charge of the profile and wallet pages. We were able to prototype these designs and show them to our initial interviewees to get their feedback on the redesign we created. This was a ver insightful process and attached below is a link to the Mid-Fi Prototype.

Final Design
As we moved from our mid-fi to the final design of our prototype it was essential we focused on the main issues that arose from our interviewees. Some of these issues varied from a lack of "back arrows" on all the pages to wanted to move the "virtual wallet" from integrated in the profile section to the navigation bar. As a team, we implemented the feedback into the final design. Additionally, when moving into a high-fi prototype, it was essential to determine colors and fonts. I made the executive decision to continue with the University burnt orange with use of white, black and gray throughout the app. For fonts, we choose to use Inter, a sans serif typeface, that has great readability.
This experience was a huge growth opportunity for me as a UX designer. It allowed me to focus on harnessing the power of design teams along with learning to synthesis the different nuances that each design brings to the table. Additionally, going through the entire design process allowed me to become more familiar with these different UX design skills such as journey mapping, affinity diagraming, and user interviews. I was able to deepen my knowledge and proficiency in Figma and lead my team with these skills. I also focused a lot on the power and significance of user feedback and design interactions as it proved to be an incredible asset to aid our designs.
